The International Diploma in Fashion, Theater & Media is a highly practical course, designed to give you a good knowledge and understanding from basic to advanced make-up applications. This unique qualification contains 3 diplomas in one and consists of:
• An International Diploma in Make-up Artistry
• An International Diploma in Fashion, Theatre and Media Make-up as well as
• An International Diploma in Nail Technology

The program modules have been designed to facilitate becoming a highly sought-after international make-up artist.  To obtain your international diploma in Fashion, Theater & Media Make-up you will have to attend full-time classes, submit various practical projects for each module as well as pass the international exam. Our qualified teachers are always on site to teach and assist every student, subsequently giving them the individual attention that they require to obtain their qualification.

You do not need a Matric (Grade12) Certificate, however, the minimum age requirement is 16 years of age

Anatomy & physiology

This section aims to provide the student with knowledge on the skin and its properties as well as skin diseases & disorders. It also investigates the muscular, skeletal, lymphatic and cardiovascular systems as well as the properties of hair & nails. Understanding the theory behind anatomy & physiology will therefore lay the foundation for the principles of make-up.

Camouflage make-up

The student will be taught how to use camouflage make-up for all skin types and colors to hide imperfections and accentuate the natural beauty of an individual. In this section students will learn how to cover different skin imperfections and scenarios, for instance covering:

  • Tattoos
  • Atrophic scar tissue
  • Hypertrophic scar tissue
  • Keloid scar
  • Hyper- or hypo-pigmented skin

  • Bruising

Applying make-up for various occasions

Students will acquire the skills to provide make-up for various occasions and will be able to work with a variety of skin types. In addition, they will also learn to apply a wide range of make-up products to different skin tones and age groups.

In this unit students will gain the skills to design and apply fashion and photographic make-up as well as combine current fashion trends, historical or period and special occasion make-up. In addition, students will also learn about make-up for both color and black and white photography.

This section will cover various aspects of the application of face and body art, with training on design aspects, techniques, colors, and products. Themes that will be covered in this section includes:

Media make-up

In this unit students will learn about special effects and media make‑up and subsequently, get exposure to the media industry. They will gain the necessary skills to work on any television, film or theater set.
Students will learn how to create casualty effects and character looks, through the application of small prosthetics.
Themes covered in this section includes:

  • Theater lighting and how it affects make-up
  • Soaping out hair and eyebrows
  • Creating casualty effects like chopped of fingers, burns, grazes, bruises, bullet wounds, cuts, bites, stitches.

Nail Technology

Eyelash & eyebrow treatment

This unit is about providing eyelash and brow treatments, consequently covering the use of a variety of consultation techniques to establish the treatment outcomes required.
Students will be able to provide eyebrow shaping, and eyebrow and eyelash tinting treatments for clients with different coloring characteristics.

Individual permanent lashes

In this unit students will apply single eyelash extension treatments, in addition to maintaining effective health, safety, and hygiene procedures throughout the unit. They will be taught to attach individual eyelashes for a long lasting effect as well as explore how to maintain these to get a durable result.

In addition to the main focus areas mentioned above, students will also be trained in other aspects such as:

  • Monitoring & maintaining health & safety practices in the salon.
  • Client care & communication in beauty related industries.
  • Product promotion and services to clients in a salon.
  • Designing & applying Mehndi skin decoration as well as
  • Creating an image based on a theme within the hair & beauty sector.

Students will develop skills in a supervisory role focusing on health and safety within a salon. They will therefore be taught to recognize salon hazards, carry out risk assessments as well as implement the necessary actions.
They will also learn about client care and communication in beauty-related industries and taught how to adapt client care and communication skills, to the needs of different clients, as well as learn how to manage client expectations.
Students will develop a sound knowledge of products and services offered in salons as well as learn to promote these products and services by providing accurate information, describing the benefits and features to clients, being able to identify buying signals, secure an agreement and most importantly, close a sale.

Deposit:  R 8000, 00 to be paid with enrollment to secure your seat.

International Registration: R 2800, 00 to be paid with registration at the campus.

Course fee including Kit & textbooks: R 4200, 00 per month for 11 months, from 31/01/2020 to 30/11/2020.
